My library was once described as a 'barren wasteland'. This all changed in 2013, when I began my journey at New Milford High School and decided to create a makerspace in it. In what seemed like record time, our library was standing-room only and transformed into a 'thriving learning metropolis'.

The Maker Movement has been a revolution in education. All educational stakeholders need to find ways to leverage this Movement. This course is makerspace planning 101, in which I share with you some of my basic tips for planning a creating a makerspace for your school community.

Laura Fleming is an educator in the state of New Jersey with over 20 years experience. She has taught K-12 and is currently the Library Media Specialist at New Milford High School in New Milford, New Jersey. She is also the author of the best-selling book, Worlds of Making: Best Practices for Establishing a Makerspace for Your School. Since her book's launch, Laura has helped school districts across the Nation, plan, create and launch their own makerspaces.
